On 23 September, OpenAI announced an expanded partnership with Airbnb. The agreement gives the company’s engineering and product teams broader access to models including GPT-6 Astra.
According to OpenAI, Airbnb uses AI assistance to write software, investigate difficult bugs and discuss how systems should be built. The company also describes uses in areas such as support and search. These accounts come from the companies themselves, rather than an independent comparison.
The announcement concerns the tools behind the service. It does not mean a new Astra button has suddenly appeared for everyone booking a trip. The interesting development is AI’s growing role in the work of creating and improving digital products.
For those of us who enjoy creating on a smaller scale, there is a simple idea to take away: use AI to try an approach early. Describe the problem, ask for a few possible solutions and choose one small part to test first.
