LM Studio lets you find, download and chat with models that can run locally. The application provides the workspace, while your chosen model produces the answers.
A good first attempt is a short, clear task. Ask the model for ideas for a rainy Sunday, or to rewrite a paragraph of your own in simpler language. You can quickly see what works.
Choose a model that fits your computer’s resources. A bigger download does not automatically mean a better experience on your machine. If responses are very slow, a smaller model may be a better starting point.
You do not need to replace the AI services you already use. Local AI can be a small side project to explore at your own pace. Start with curiosity and harmless material, and get to know the difference between the application and the model.
