When browsing models, you often see numbers describing their size. It is easy to think bigger is always the right choice. But larger models generally need more memory and can become slow on an ordinary computer.
Think about the task instead. Suggesting headings for your own text is different from untangling a difficult research problem. Start with a focused example and see whether the answer helps you move forward.
Tools such as Ollama let you try different models and compare the experience. How long do you have to wait? Does the model understand your language? Does it follow your request for a short answer?
A smaller model that is pleasant to use may get more use than a larger one you avoid starting. You do not need to find the best model for everything. Finding one that suits your next small task is enough.
